What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda:

Ayus = life

Veda = science or knowledge


Ayurveda is a 5,000 year-old consciousness-based system of healing from India. 


The purpose of Ayurveda is to help us return to our natural state of health, balance, and wholeness. Ayurveda recognizes the primacy of consciousness and offers powerful practices that can help us change the qualities of our experiences in consciousness to create health and balance in your mind-body system. 


Ayurveda is preventative, participatory, and personalized approach to health and well-being. By working with your body's natural rhythms and not against them, you can create a daily routine that will transform your health and your life.


AYURVEDA AND SIX THE PILLARS OF HEALTH

Ayurvedic practices include sensory modulation, meditation, yoga, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, physical activity, breathing practices, daily routines and many other tools and practices for shifting our consciousness towards health and happiness. 


The six most important pillars of health to focus on in our daily lifestyle are sleep, meditation, movement/physical activity, healthy emotions, self-care, and optimal nutrition.  All of these components are included in the Soul Pansophy Ayurvedic Lifestyle Program.

why ayurveda?

Only 5% of disease-related gene mutations are fully penetrant (the gene directly causes a disorder). 95% of disease-related gene mutations increase your risk factors for disease but they do not predict the disease. 


Current scientific research validates Ayurvedic techniques. Studies conducted at the Chopra Center reported:

  • Anxiety reduction
  • Sustained increases in psychological well-being
  • Decrease in chemicals that may increase the risk of heart disease


Ayurvedic techniques can change gene expression to promote healing, self-regulation, and homeostasis (balance).

Ayurvedic Lifestyle Course

aYURVEDIC LIFESTYLE COURSE

The Ayurvedic Lifestyle course offers a step-by-step exploration of mind-body medicine and Ayurveda. Each of the classes includes instruction in the practical tools and techniques of mind-body practices that anyone can immediately begin using in their daily life.


  • Class 1: Introduction to Ayurveda (2.5 hours)

You'll learn the foundational principles of Ayurveda, the five elements, and the three primary mind-body doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.


  • Class 2: Ayurvedic Nutrition (2 hours)

You'll learn how to optimize digestion and select the most nourishing foods for your dosha type. You'll explore Ayurvedic nutritional practices that will help you maintain vibrant health and consume a variety of nutritious foods with awareness.


  • Class 3: Emotional Well-being (2 hours)

You'll learn why understanding and regulating emotions is the key to our physical, mental, and emotional health. You'll explore practices and techniques of conscious communication, you'll learn about the biological responses, and the steps of emotional release to transform your relationships and experience more joy in your life.


  • Class 4: Inner Pharmacy (2 hours)

You'll learn practical tools for tapping into the healing power of the five senses: sound, touch, sight, taste, and smell. You'll learn how to strengthen the body's inner pharmacy using sensory practices to balance each of the doshas.


  • Class 5: Ayurvedic Daily Routines (2 hours)

You'll learn about the rhythms of nature, an optimal daily routine, the doshas and the seasons, seasonal routines, detoxification, and restful sleep.
